What is Bluetooth Users Against
Bush?
Bluetooth Users Against Bush uses bluetooth enabled devices (mobile
phones, PDA's, laptop computers) to create moments of ad-hoc solidarity
for people opposed to George W. Bush and his disastrous policies.
That's great! How do I participate?
Its really easy!
- Find your bluetooth device settings
- Name your device "Bluetooth Against Bush"
- Set your device to be "discoverable" by other devices
Who can participate in Bluetooth
Users Against Bush?
Anyone with a bluetooth enabled device can participate.
Why should I participate?
Simply because its fun!
Its a subtle way to show your solidarity with the anti-Bush movement
and discover people in your immediate vicinity who feel the same
way. When you are in a crowded area, you can use your bluetooth
enabled device to scan for other bluetooth devices. If you find
other devices named "Bluetooth Against Bush," then you
know other participants are within 20-30 ft. of you!
Why are you against Bush?
Well, here's One
Thousand Reasons.
How many people are doing
this?
There's no way to know for sure. If you like the idea and want
to participate, send an email to info@bluetoothusersagainstbush.com
and let us know.
Coincidentally, Bluetooth Against Bush has inspired a new movement
called BlueRoots.
While this is not an official endorsement, please visit http://www.blueroots.org

Hey, "Bluetooth Against
Bush" doesn't fit in my device name settings! Do you have any
other name suggestions?
Some devices don't support enough characters in their bluetooth
device name for the entire text. In that case, its time to get creative.

How do I discover other
Bluetooth Users Against Bush participants?
Go to your bluetooth connection settings and choose "scan
for devices" or "new paired device." Your device
will then search for other discoverable bluetooth devices. If other
Bluetooth Users Against Bush participants are within range the search
will return a list of devices named "Bluetooth Against Bush."
If I find another Bluetooth
Users Against Bush participant, can I send them a text message?
Before you can send messages or share files via bluetooth, your
device must first submit a request to "pair" with the
other device. This will require you to create a short security code.
When the other person enters this security code, your devices are
"paired" and may communicate with each other.
Do I have to go through
the whole pairing procedure every time I want to communicate with
another bluetooth device?
Once a device is "paired," you may set it as a "favorite."
If two devices set each other as "favorite" they can communicate
without having to pair again.
Isn't there a way around
this whole "pairing" thing? What about BlueJacking?
BlueJacking
allows you to send messages without needing to pair devices. Basically,
you create a phonebook contact and write a message, eg. 'Down With
Dubya!', in the 'Name' field. Then you can search for other Bluetooth
Against Bush participants and send that phonebook contact to them.
On their device, a message will popup saying "'Down With Dubya'
has just been received by Bluetooth" or something along those
lines.
